Sometimes the "email to webmaster" comes from a name you have never heard before. It's from a different ethnic group than where you grew up, and it's just... unknown.

Rather than guessing wrong, or worse yet, bungling it (I was once traveling with someone whose name was transcribed from two words in Vietnamese to one word in French by a clerk!) ....

1. Open Google

2. Type in the person's first name

3. Click on the Image Search results

4. Look at the results

90% of the time this gives me a gender to use.
