Thank you $@$#%$@#$ NetSols
Now I'm getting scary sounding warnings from my hosting company.
Of course, in the end it's a sales pitch for domain sales, but damnit, I read emails from my hosting company with "Urgent" in them. They don't normally email me unless a)a server went down or b)my credit card stopped working.

** This message is for informational purposes and pertains to products and/or services you have purchased from CrystalTech Web Hosting Inc. We have sent this message from a no-reply address to avoid bounced messages into our support ticketing systems. We have recently noticed an increase in the number of CrystalTech customers who have been unable to purchase domain names shortly after checking their availability through certain domain name lookup tools on the web. It has come to our attention that one or more Domain Name Registrars may be reserving domains immediately after a search is performed on their websites and then requiring you to purchase the domain name directly through them.
In response, we would like to remind you that you can perform domain availability lookups-or WhoIs searches-through our website located at http://www.crystaltech.com. After an order is placed for new hosting at CrystalTech.com, you can expedite the registration of your domain by contacting the billing department at 1.877.323.4678, option 5 (602.263.0300 local and international). The billing department is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM MST. A credit card will be required in order to purchase a new domain name by phone.
Extra Domains (domain pointers) can be registered at any time through the WebControlCenterT as long as you have a valid credit card on file.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at support@crystaltech.com or 1-877-323-4678 (local customers may call 602-263-0300), option 2, at any time.

Actually, this is not a sales pitch. This is a notice of something that several bloggers brought to light a week or so ago. People who were looking for open domains on NetSols were finding the domains available, but hesitating to buy for whatever reason. Then, as soon as they go back to buy them, they find out that they're gone. And then, upon checking registries, it turns out NetSols has registered them in what looked like a blatant attempt at cybersquatting.
I think this e-mail is more of a PR thing to say that NetSols is trying to combat this problem and they are requesting your patience. They've not trying to sell you on something.
This is more them playing CYA than anything, IMHO.
I blogged about that last week.
:P
My host has, however, twisted in a sales pitch.
If I buy the domain from anyone immediately after looking it up, I won't have the problem it's addressing. They didn't point THAT out.
I did buy a domain immediately after looking it up the other day, in fact.
I just haven't done anything with it yet. :D
That's where I read it!
