Web 2.0 For Profit....

Ok, there's this long blog post about Target, an ad agency, and a program called Target Rounders:

I agree that Target asking it's people to lie is unethical. (Insert comment about advertising agencies and the truth here.) However, I'm more disturbed by the concept of Web 2.0 becoming the tool of Madison Avenue.

I think this has been happening, but the circles I'm in are not part of that. I've seen, for example, company write-ups on Wikipedia where I thought, "ok, that's a bit too much spin." I've also heard about Google vs. PayForPost. But I think I'll stick my head in the sand and ignore the idea of paying college students to market products in any way they can.
